Sarah Gibson (nee O'Leary)
With a reputation for delivery, I'm an energetic, highly motivated self-starter, a strategic thinker with hands on capability. I particularly enjoy championing 'firsts', shaping projects others have not previously undertaken. By team leading or working with contractors, tasks are successfully achieved. Creative, adaptable, gregarious, with enthusiasm and drive that I'm often told others find me inspiring. Deeply passionate about Plymouth, I thrive in
brokerage, building trust and promoting strength from partnership working, particularly amidst complex projects.
Employed in this new city role since October 2010, with a BSc (Hons) in Public Relations, former roles include Active in Communities Coordinator, Marketing Manager, European Social Fund & Regional Development Agency Project Manager with Plymouth University and Regional Brand Manager with the Western Morning News.
"Sarah O'Leary is a dedicated Plymothian who embodies the spirit of leadership and determination that we associate with the best of the City. Sarah led the campaign for a Waterfront Business Improvement District with creativity and passion; no stakeholder was left in any doubt whatsoever as to Sarah's commitment and drive for the BID and what it might mean for the more effective marketing of the Waterfront and its various attractions. The resounding 70% 'yes' vote for the Waterfront BID bucked the current trend for ballots on BIDs elsewhere and has established a clear mandate for change. The Waterfront BID will now act as a powerful organising force for economic development in the City, playing to some of the most important opportunities in the leisure, tourism and hospitality industries. Sarah's 24/7 efforts for the City have been appreciated by everyone, most notably the BID stakeholders and other important institutions of the City. Now the hard work begins, and it would be very appropriate for Sarah's efforts to
be acknowledged publicly in a VC's Enterprise Award."
Pioneer of the Year Award Nomination, Plymouth University VC Enterprise Awards, 2012
I joined the BID in December 2014 to work alongside Sarah Gibson (nee O’Leary), Waterfront Manager.
My role is to provide operational support to help drive forward the business priorities of the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership BID Plan.
Having moved to the city twelve years ago, I am extremely passionate about Plymouth.
I am excited about: providing excellent support as first point of contact for Sarah/the BID as a whole; generating positivity and inspiring others to appreciate the value and importance of the Waterfront; contributing to the successful delivery of Plymouth Waterfront Partnership BID Plan.
