November 5th Lockdown Support - A message from our Chief Executive, Diane Mansell

I wanted to contact you personally to let you know that your Plymouth Waterfront BID is here to help, we are doing everything we can to support the Plymouth Waterfront business community during these difficult times.

We will continue to keep you informed and updated on latest developments and signposting you to relevant areas of support. I fully understand that the latest news will come as a shock to many of you and cause anxiety at such a vital time of the business year. You have worked so hard over the last few months to get your businesses Covid-19 ready and up and running again after the last lockdown to now be hit with a second wave of restrictions.

Working with Shop4Plymouth, Plymouth City Council and Plymouth City Centre Company we will be launching a marketing campaign urging shoppers to make a pledge to shop local this Christmas. More information will be sent out shortly, so if you would like to be involved in this please look out for more announcements.

Your Waterfront BID team are committed to doing everything we can to help you through yet another huge challenge and to emerge in December ready to shine once again. I want to reassure you that the Ambassador program will continue to support businesses and residents of the Waterfront during the lockdown checking in on essential businesses that remain open offering any support that maybe needed.

If you are feeling isolated and need someone to speak to we want you to keep in touch we are here to support you. So, please let us know if you are open, what your changing offer is or what new services you are providing including click and collect and delivery services.

We are already preparing for when the restrictions ease to fully promote the reopening of your business and all the Waterfront has to offer ready to welcome customers back into the area. Compared to many cities across the UK, we are still in a strong position for recovery and our Waterfront regeneration plans will continue to make sure Plymouth Waterfront continues to thrive in the coming years.

You will remember that during the last lockdown we set up a new website in partnership with Plymouth City Council, Visit Plymouth and the Plymouth City Centre Company. We did this as a quick response to the pandemic to enable Plymouth businesses to continue to talk to their customers and win new ones by continuing to trade either online or via delivery services, takeaway or click and collect. Since then we have continued to develop the website and associated social media channels and 300 businesses have signed up to take advantage of this free service. If you haven’t yet signed up, NOW is the perfect time to do so. Please get in touch and we will promote your business for you.

We also have other services for you to take advantage of including:

+ SMARTA business cost savings program. This is a free service to all BID Members to reduce costs for energy, business insurance, merchant services, phone and Broadband and water costs.
