Enjoying the Waterfront during Easter Bank Holiday Weekend



As we head into the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, help us to protect our beautiful Waterfront and the local wildlife so that it can be enjoyed by all.


MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC


If you're planning to visit the Waterfront to take exercise and access the water, have a picnic or to pick up a take away from one of the open businesses please take care to be mindful of keeping everyone safe by:


+ Check online tools before travel to assess how busy an area might be. See: https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/visitor-information/travel-information

+ Have a plan B and C if you get somewhere and it’s really busy

+ Adhere to the social distancing measures and the rule of six or two households.

+ Park only in marked bays

+ If using a BBQ in parks & Waterfront areas – please only do so in the designated areas, and do so responsibly, following these guidelines: https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/sites/default/files/PCC%20BBQ%20guidelines%20A4%20v3.pdf

+ Extra waste can pose an issue as more people venture out so please dispose of it carefully. Put your litter in a bin, or bring a spare bag and taking home rubbish to recycle

+ If a bin is full, help by reporting it online * and take your rubbish home

+ Keep dogs under close control, pick up dog waste and dispose of responsibly

+ Many businesses have safe queuing systems in place - please follow them and keep in mind social distancing measures when walking past queues

WATERFRONT BUSINESSES


If you are offering takeaway food or drinks, please consider:


+ Putting extra/larger bins outside of your premises.

+ Encourage your customers to take their rubbish home if they cannot fit it in bins provided.

+ Consider switching to easy to crush/fold, and/or recyclable packaging.

+ Sell re-usable cups, which your customers could take home after and reuse.

+ If you see an overflowing bin, please report it *.
