Just a short update – with awards judging currently proceeding apace – to remind you that there is still time to enter the Tourism Festival and Event Award and to nominate your Tourism Unsung Hero, for individuals that go above and beyond in delivering excellence to visitors. There is also the International Visitor Experience category, for those who go the extra mile in looking after our overseas guests.
Entry for these 3 categories closes at Midnight THIS FRIDAY 26th August – there will be no extensions to this and late entries will not be accepted. Entry forms and more information can be found at www.devontourismawards.org.uk
In parallel, VisitEngland have announced that the national VisitEngland Awards open TODAY and have several new categories that businesses from Devon can enter direct. These are:
Family Friendly Business of the Year in conjunction with Family Traveller, with three separate sub-categories for Accommodation, Things to See & Do, Eating & Drinking
GREAT China Welcome of the Year
Afternoon Tea of the Year
Guided Tour of the Year (if you have already entered a guided tour into a Devon Experience category this will be automatically considered for VisitEngland so you do not need to enter again)
The closing date for the Family Friendly category is 30th September, the GREAT China Welcome 4th October and the remainder 14th October 2016, with finalists announced early March 2017 and the Awards Ceremony taking place in April 2017. For more details about the categories go to www.visitenglandawards.org/about-home/who-can-apply
For most categories the VisitEngland categories match our own – if you have already entered one of these in the Devon Awards you will automatically be considered for submission to the South West and VisitEngland Awards – Please do not try to enter again as your entry will be rejected by VisitEngland! (Devon businesses, unlike those in most other regions, gain 3 chances of winning from just one entry!)
VisitEngland are also running workshops to assist entrants on completing their forms & a full list of workshops can be found here: www.visitbritain.org/book-now-visitengland-awards-excellence-regional-workshop (There is one in the South West – in Bristol on 1st September).
