Kick back and relax in style this summer and you could be in with the chance of winning a host of goodies from some of Sutton Harbour’s most popular venues.
A giant deckchair will be springing up at various venues around the spectacular waterfront destination throughout August, with visitors encouraged to take the weight off their feet and share a picture of themselves online as they relax on the picturesque perch.
Using the hashtag #suttonharbourselfie, people are invited to post their shots on the Sutton Harbour Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram.
A prize will be awarded for the best photograph taken in each location, with Boston Tea Party café-bar, The Lost Side streetwear store and vintage ice cream van Cobbles Ices among the businesses taking part in the social media competition.
Ben Hibbard, Marketing Manager for Boston Tea Party, said: “We are really excited to be part of this competition and can’t wait to see all the photographs with people taking inspiration from their picturesque surroundings here at Sutton Harbour.
“We opened our Plymouth venue last month and we’re so pleased to be right at the heart of this bustling waterfront. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors as they rest their feet and relax in this eye-catching deckchair.”
The first venue to welcome the oversized deckchair, which is more than two metres high, will be Cobbles Ices at Quay Square from August 4th to 7th.
It will then visit various spots around Sutton Harbour before heading to Rockfish seafood restaurant in the last week of the month – visit the Sutton Harbour social media sites on Facebook or follow @ExperienceSH on Twitter to find out exactly where the deckchair will be during August.
Charlotte Malcolm, Commercial Marketing Manager for Sutton Harbour Holdings plc, said: “Sutton Harbour is already proving a real draw for people in search of a great place to eat, drink, shop and relax and this photography competition is a fun opportunity to showcase what we have here in the heart of Plymouth’s stunning waterfront to a wider audience, which we hope will encourage even more people to visit, at the same time as making a trip into the heart of Britain’s Ocean City even more entertaining an experience.”
Sutton Harbour offers an ever-increasing selection of tempting food and drink options to visitors enjoying a trip to Plymouth’s prime waterfront district, with venues including pizza and cider restaurant The Stable, Italian-style café Alfresco! and the new Boston Tea Party café-bar, which opened at the rejuvenated Jamaica House in July.
Michael Raddie from Cobbles Ices, said: “I’m really looking forward to being the first spot for the giant deckchair competition and I have some delicious ice cream to give away to whoever takes the best picture here on the waterfront at Cobbles’ Quay Square trading pitch.”
The full timetable of venues welcoming the giant deckchair is available on the Sutton Harbour Facebook page, or follow @ExperienceSH on Twitter to find out where it will be next.
The deckchair will start off at Cobbles Ices at Quay Square from August 4th - 7th before moving onto some of Sutton Harbour’s most popular eateries and shops including The Real Food Kitchen, The Ship, Boston Tea Party, The Stable, The Lost Side and Rockfish.
The best pictures posted by visitors of them sat in the deckchair will be announced on the Sutton Harbour social media sites and at the end of the summer, one overall winner will be chosen, with the lucky photographer winning the deckchair.
