This December, for the first time ever, The Royal William Yard will host two festive markets and a very special Christmas tree in the countdown to Christmas.
27th November: The Darwin Tree
Festivities start on the 27th November, when The Royal William Yard will put up its first ever outdoor Christmas tree on the Green, sponsored by the Western Morning News on Sunday and provided by the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership. The tree will have a Darwin theme. You can learn more about Charles Darwin’s 1831 visit to Plymouth by following the Darwin trail around the Royal William Yard, trail entry forms and more information can be accessed at www.visitplymouth.co.uk or by visiting the Tourist Information Centre on the Barbican.
7th December: The first December market takes place on Sunday 7th December, 10am – 3pm and will be hosted by the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership. The Christmas market will not only include all the favourite food and drink stalls but also craft stalls from Cornwall and Devon. There’ll be fun for all the family - try the Darwin trail and pick up some perfect locally sourced Christmas gifts.
17th December: Festivities continue on Wednesday 17th December 2pm – 8pm, with the Christmas Good Food market. Stall holders will be bringing their finest Christmas goodies and shoppers will be able to buy personalised cakes, chutneys, whole truckles of Westcountry cheeses, fresh geese, ducks, chickens and, of course, turkeys.
This will be the last market until February, so shoppers are encouraged to come and stock up on lots of their favourite produce for enjoying over the cold winter months!
