Plymouth Awarded Purple Flag Accreditation!
We are thrilled that projects lead by the Waterfront BID has contributed to Plymouth being awarded the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation for its evening and night-time economy (ENTE).
This prestigious accreditation is only given to cities and towns that meet or surpass the standards of excellence in managing its evening and night-time economy. It aims to raise the standard of safety and broaden the appeal of city centres between the hours of 5pm and 5am.
Areas awarded the Purple Flag are recognised as providing a vibrant and diverse mixture of entertainment and culture, while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and residents.
The city was assessed on elements such as community, entertainment, partnership working, transport (including pedestrian routes, lighting and parking), identity and much more.
Sarah Gibson, Waterfront Manager and Chief Executive said "The PWP taxi marshal scheme in the Barbican and discounts on NiteNet radios for Waterfront BID Members assisted in making Plymouth a safe city. Multiple partner organisations have worked together to achieve this accreditation, we're delighted that Plymouth's safety record has been acknowledged nationally through this great award."
Purple Flag accredited areas report a consistent increase in footfall and a decrease in crime within the ENTE. Plymouth has been nominated for three national awards for their Purple Flag accreditation efforts.
