Bretonside Bus Station Given A New Look

One of the city’s key visitor gateways has received a much needed lift this week with the installation of a series of high quality, wall-sized images of the Waterfront and City Centre.

Photographs of Smeaton’s Tower on the Hoe, Royal William Yard, British Firework Championships viewed from Plymouth’s historic Barbican and Sutton harbour, the City Market and Drake Circus have been scaled up to give visitors a warm welcome to the city.

Funded through a partnership between Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and the City Centre Company, the large pictures provide a showcase of locations to encourage increased footfall to the city’s key visitor areas, including indicators on how long it would take to walk to each destination.

Advisory Board Election

Following the first year of operation and dedicated assistance from the interim Advisory Board volunteers, we’d like to open up opportunities for more BID Members to take part.

The current 12 seats that represent the interests of businesses from the St Peter and the Waterfront and Sutton Wards that fall within the geographical BID area, will be doubled to 24, targeting wider representation from all geographical areas of the BID.

Nominations will be sought then an open election to all BID Members will be conducted over the next few weeks. The winning nominees will take the seats and commit to advising the Board on project delivery for the next twelve months.

Bretonside Bus Station Visuals

In response to BID Member requests, installation of large scale visuals for the walls of the Bus Station promoting Plymouth’s City Centre and Waterfront destinations is now complete.

Featuring the Hoe’s Smeaton’s Tower, British Firework Championship from the historic harbour, Royal William Yard, Drake Circus, the City Market, a new aerial view of our Waterfront City and the new city map, these new wall-sized images provide a fantastic welcome to visitors.

Funded through a partnership of PWP, PCC and the City Centre BID, the imagery will soon be installed at the Millbay Port and Railway Station too.

NEW Joint Plymouth Waterfront Ferry Ticket

The Royal William Yard Ferry and Cremyll Ferry are joining forces for the first time ever to provide a joint ticket to explore Plymouth’s spectacular waterfront by boat.

From May 1st to Sept 30 there will be a brand new ticket available that allows travel between Cremyll, Cornwall on the Cremyll Ferry, across the River Tamar to Admiral’s Hard in Plymouth, then after a short stroll to Royal William Yard, catch the Royal William Yard Ferry around Plymouth Sound to the Barbican.

Tickets cost £6.50 for an adult and £3.50 for children, tickets are available on the boats.
