This is an extremely important year for the Waterfront with significant events taking place, including the Olympic Torch Relay (19th May) and the launch of Plymouth’s Marine City Festival (8th – 16th September). It’s vital BID businesses have opportunities to participate and we aim to keep you updated on future opportunities.

Here are current opportunities that might be of interest:

PLEASE NOTE APPLICATIONS FOR THE BIG PICNIC HAVE NOW CLOSED

The Big Picnic: Catering Partner Opportunity – Deadline 16th April * NOW CLOSED*

On Sunday 13th May, during the nationally promoted Sky Ride cycling event, the British Sandwich Association is organising a Big Charity Picnic event on The Hoe. The aim of the event, which marks the 250th Anniversary of the Sandwich, is to raise money for the CHICKS charity which provides week long respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK.

In support of this event, local business Ginsters is planning to give away up to 5000 free sandwiches in return for a donation to CHICKS and the British Sandwich Association are keen to find complimentary catering partners to provide food and drinks alongside this. The food can either be given away or sold but they do ask that at least a reasonable donation is made to the CHICKS charity.

If you are a catering company or food supplier and are interested in supporting this event, please contact Jim Winship from the British Sandwich Association as soon as possible: all expressions of interest and relevant documentation must be received by Jim by Monday 16th April. Contact Jim Winship by email on jim@tesa.org.uk or call him directly on 01291 636331.

Marine City Festival: Seafood Festival

PWP is beginning to plan an exciting three day Seafood Festival on the weekend of 14-16th September, forming part of the newly created Marine City Festival which launches this year (8-16th September).

While the hub for the event will be across The Barbican, we want to see footfall driven across the whole Waterfront district. All businesses providing seafood in the Waterfront BID area are invited to take part, either through taking a discounted pitch in the main event area or through being promoted as a satellite Seafood Festival location, designed to draw visitors across the whole Waterfront area.

We’ll be writing to you over coming weeks with further information on what’s being planned. In the meantime, please download the Seafood expression of interest form and return to give us your feedback on how you’d like to see the event delivered and how you would like your business to get involved.

Don’t forget, the Waterfront BID website will be updated as tendering opportunities become available so do keep a check on this site.
